My science fair explanation

Explanation

Why do you think sneakers are faster, than bare feet?

Well, I am about to tell you.

The development work that has gone into the sneaker has managed to cover all the challenges you have with bare feet. Sneakers have been designed to make running easier for you and your feet. They protect your feet from rough surfaces. They give your feet more support, so you can avoid injuring them. And they give you more spring so you can run faster.

When I started to think about this I had thought running in bare feet would be lighter, feel more free and therefore be faster. But I couldn’t be sure! So that is why I chose “Faster feet” for my science fair.

I did some research and I found that I was wrong. It turns out that the people who make shoes make them for a reason. The reason isn’t just to look cool and sporty, it is to make it comfortable to run and to run faster.

Example: Just say you were running on sand with bare feet but you didn’t realize, there were stones in your path. You might run right on them and badly injure your feet. However with shoes, you run straight over the rocks and don’t even feel a thing! See how that works?

Also, would you choose to wear sneakers for cross country or run in bare feet? Your choice, but most likely you are going to go for the sneaker, because you are most likely going on hills and long roads, and your feet can get really sore, with no protection!

The testing that I did, proved that sneakers are faster and there is no question about it! I have done testing on different surfaces and sneakers have won every time!

You might not believe me, but sneakers are made for you to run fast, and comfortably. If sneakers weren’t faster than bare feet ... What would be the purpose in making them?

I have just proved to you, why sneakers are faster than bare feet, remember what I have told you, so that next time when someone asks you which makes you run faster, you say?

Not bare feet, sneakers!
