MY POEM

Dreaming

While crouched by the sea side,
The wind whips through my hair.
Thy felt so peaceful so lost in thy thoughts,
In the distance the soft but beautiful songs of the birds,
I could feel myself flouting as if I was a cloud,
So I dear not move.

The wind was swirling around me,
Carrying the salt from the sea with it
Stinging my eyes as it flew past.
The crashing of the waves so soothing
I felt in a dream.

I felt at peace as the soft gold sand
Fell between my toes
As I picked up the shells around me
My heart filled with joy.
They were all so beautiful I just couldn’t let go.
All my thoughts were lost in my head.
I don’t know why but I felt so dead.

Oh, how I wish I could stay in this beautiful place,
But it’s just a dream, my eyes are closing with dread
As I watch the waves crash on the shore
I start to drift off and soon fall.

Production

THE LIFE OF RILEY

The noise was overwhelming , i was trembling in my out fit. Man! I was so nervous but at the same so excited!

I was behind the stage everyone around me were murmuring with excitement but I just stood there anxious of what people will say about me if I mess up in my dance. Today was Tuesday 14th September our first night of production on the amazing picture book the life of riley.

We had been rehearsing for this production for a long time and even though I new my dance off by heart, I started to forget it little by little with fare.

At that moment a teacher came out and told us it was time to go on, thats when my heart stopped. The thought of dancing in front of a lot of people started to creep up on me and my head started swirling in different directions. My best friend Flossii came over to me her face wide confusion. “ Whats wrong she had asked me “ But I couldn’t even answer back. I had been in front of wider audiences than this when I did my hip hop concert at the opera house, but this scared me because everyone, siting in the muritai school hall were people I knew! I was afraid that everyone would make fun of me if I mucked up!

step by step I started walking on the stage, the curtains were closed, thank god!
I scrambled over to my side of the stage.
the curtains started to open!
Our song started. When my cue came I rushed on stage ready to dance. Then it hit me “I’m not afraid: I told my self, this is fun not scary and I started to bogey and bogey and bogey, I was having so much fun.

By the time my dance had finished I was all smiles. I was so happy I had no idea why i was so afraid of going on stage, it was amazing!
The rest of the show carried on smoothly and at the end, the whole year 7 and 8 syndicate sang the song the life of riley. It was a fantastic starter to the production week and I could see by the look on the audiences faces they enjoyed it as well. It was lots of fun and everyone had the most fantastic time!

Education

Today we started the LIFE Education programme. The programme we are involved in is entitled ‘From the Shadows’. This programme deals with some of the influences/pressures that young people may face. It provides students with factual information about drugs in order to enable them to be well informed when making decisions about their actions.

It was an extremely interesting and informative afternoon. We are looking forward to next weeks sessions
